We pride ourselves on our attention to detail in the workshop – and do not compromise on the quality of our work, ever. All our mechanics are highly trained and fussy individuals and we are proud to be recognised as both a Shimano Service Centre and a Campagnolo Pro Shop (one of only a handful in the country and the longest running of any!).

Not only that, but our head mechanic Scott was voted Britain’s Best Bike Mechanic in 2018 – through a combination of customer voting and then a day where he was put through his paces and assessed at one of the UK’s main training facilities. We’re happy to assess any bike, free of charge, and then let you know what the work will cost.

We offer three main levels of service – but are more than happy to quote for individual jobs that may need attending too, we keep our prices competitive and will keep you informed of the progress every step of the way. We’re part of the UK Government ‘Fix your bike’ voucher scheme, so if you’ve been able to get your hands on one just let us know at the time of booking.

Basic service & safety check (Bronze Service)

This level of service checks and tunes brakes and gears – and also enables us to check over the bike to make sure it is safe to ride. This is the very minimum any bike should have that hasn’t been used for a period of time, or one that you’ve purchased from an on-line retailer.

Our bronze level service includes the following…
✓ ‘Muc-Off’ bike clean
✓ Brakes safety checked and re-alined
✓ Gears checked and re-aligned
✓ Cranks safety checked and tightened to recommended torque
✓ Tyres checked and inflated to the recommended pressure
✓ Headset and handlebar assembly safety checked and correctly tightened to recommended torque
✓ Seat post removed, cleaned and re-fitted with clamp correctly tightened to recommended torque

Standard service (Silver Service)

(recommended every 3-9 months, depending on usage)
A full service of your bike, including cleaning and checking all parts. Any additional parts required will be charged for – however the labour time to fit them won’t be.

Our silver service includes everything from the bronze level, plus….
✓ Cassette and chain removed, cleaned and inspected for wear. All other drive system components (including pedals, chainset and both derailleurs) thoroughly cleaned, checked and lubed. Before being checked and tightened to the correct torque
✓ Frame cleaned, polished and assessed for damage
✓ Wheels trued and assessed for damage and cracks

Full re-build service (Gold Service)

(recommended every 12-18 months, depending on usage)
As its name suggests this service involves the complete strip and re-build of your bike. The bike is stripped back to the frame, and then every individual component is cleaned, checked and lubricated. This level of service is ideal for your bike after it’s done a long winters riding, or your to get your race bike prepared for the season ahead – or if you race cross, then you might need a couple of these a season to keep your bike going!! Due to the nature of this level of service you’ll also need to factor in bar tape and a cable set (unless you’re running an electric groupset / hydro brakes of course!!). Any additional parts required such as bearings etc will be charged extra for – however the labour time to fit them won’t be.

Our gold service includes everything from the bronze and silver level, plus….
✓ All components removed and the bike fully stripped down to the bare frame, wiped down and checked for damage/cracks
✓ Bike re-build from the ground up, ensuring all components are fitted using anti-seize grease and tightened to the correct torque
✓ Wheel hubs stripped down and re-greased
✓ Headset removed and greased

Fitting of additional parts…

As part of our service packages we are happy to fit additional items purchased from Performance Cycles (such as tyres, bottom brackets etc). Items supplied from other sources that are given to us to fit are subject to additional charges – based on the time taken (minimum charge £5 per item).

Booking and storage…

Because of the size of our premises, we operate a strict booking system for workshop work – therefore if you want to get your bike booked in please call us on 01285 851946 to arrange a slot. We cannot store bikes for long, therefore bikes can only be dropped off at the beginning of the week they are scheduled to be worked on, or the Saturday before at the earliest (unless by special arrangement), we also asked that completed work is collected as promptly as possible – and sadly have to charge a storage charge of £2.50 per day that the bike is with us after it’s agreed collection date.

Mobile workshop coverage…

Our mobile workshop covers a large area of the Cotswolds – including Cirencester, Tetbury, Northleach, Stroud, Malmesbury, Fairford, Cricklade, Lechlade, Swindon, Cheltenham and Gloucester. To book your service slot, simply give us a call on 01285 851946 or email sales@performancecycles.co.uk and we can get you booked in. We just need your contact and bike details – and your postcode!!

Our mobile workshop is a fully equipped van – and unlike most we don’t work on your pride and joy in the rain under our tailgate!! Instead, your bike is worked on by our technician inside in the dry and in the warm (yes the van has got a decent internal heater!!). We carry a full set of tools to take on all work along with a large selection of spares – that’s then fully backed up by the shop in Poulton
